Mike Bond is an award-winning novelist with a score of positive reviews by professional reviewers. All of his works attract high praise and excel in their quality.
Bond’s writing, however, for me is more challenging to engage. He writes with the prose of a professional that knows it, but the small grammatical issues here or there distract me. For me, the details make the story. The details show the dreams to be illusions and waking moments to be reality. So I catch on to the details. In this case, the details don’t derail the train – they just serve as a speed bump, like a penny on the rails, to remind the reader that they’re engrossed in a novel. Some use speed bumps to remind, others ignore – it’s all a matter of personal preference.
The storyline is promising, and it’s evident that his writing is engaging for many. I’m just not part of that club.
