This audiobook edition is narrated by Adam Verner.
Tullian Tchividjian, author and pastor, has quite the point to make. Having experienced a season of turmoil in the merging of two well-known churches as their Lead Pastor, he has witnessed both G-d’s power at work, and the devil’s. Strife broke out during the merger of these two giants, and caused him much grief. Luckily, though, he had his scheduled vacation come up. During that time of rest, Tchividjian realized that he was continually seeking the approval of man, not of G-d. This forced him to recognize that an exploration in Colossians was needed to help him rediscover the Gospel.
People-pleasing is an addiction. There is only one way to cure it, though, and that is through the gospel. Y’shua alone is everything we will ever need. That’s why Y’shua + nothing will always equal everything. And we need him now. He is our present rescue. Not past. Not future. Present Rescue (which is the closest translation of YHWH).
Verner reads with an inflective ease that draws the listener in. The soothing voice inspires and drives listeners to take action. Speaking in a slower to medium pace, his narration is quite excellent. The only negative in this regard is that his peaceful narration remains peaceful at all times, even trigger moments of stress. This unbelievably calm audio in tense situations can cause a distraction to listeners, obstructing their complete involvement with the text. Apart from that, excellent marks, all around.Disclosure: I have received a reviewer copy and/or payment in exchange for an honest review of the product mentioned in this post.
