I have written this book review in addition to launching a weekly series here at SG. Please consider joining this series with me as we look at the book in-depth for the eleven weeks.
This book is for anyone. If this is your first relationship, if you are dating, married, in sin, divorced, or not in a relationship at all. If it’s for your kids or grandkids, perhaps parents, or those you counsel. Driscoll has written this book with the intention of reaching to you. If you are reading this series here on SG, or just the review for the book, this book is for you. This book is written to serve you and your need. After all, you wouldn’t have looked at this book, or even this post by me regarding it, unless your interest was piqued somehow. That interest, that curiosity, is precisely the reason you need to not just read the book, but join me in studying it each week for the next eleven weeks.
In this book, the Driscolls intend to be honest. Honest about failures. Honest about mistakes. Honest about sins. Honest about grief. And honest about love. I will make the same pledge, and ask that you do as well. We’re not talking about a Bible study commitment or planning to quit your job – we’re talking about marriage, a covenant between man and woman, a covenant between people and G-d.
Driscoll starts the book with this pledge of honesty, and leads to telling a bit of context of their relationship. I don’t intend to write the details, so to learn of this, you’ll have to buy the book and follow with me. So let’s cut to later in their relationship…
We are now closer than ever and have a very healthy sex life. We work together as one. We repent and forgive quickly and well by [G-d’s] grace. We are blessed to have been faithful to each other for the entirety of our marriage. Through it all, we’ve learned a lot. On a scale of 1 to 10, we’d say our marriage is somewhere around an 8+ or 9, where in years past it was a 3 or 4.
Driscoll states the rest of this book, and our studies, will include date night tips, how to fix a broken marriage, how to set up a marriage, and more. They’ll even answer the “can we do that” sex questions…
I recommend the book. Like I said, I’m doing a weekly study on it, so I hope it’d be worth recommending…start with week one here.Disclosure: I have received a reviewer copy and/or payment in exchange for an honest review of the product mentioned in this post.
