My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Each day is a different chapter, so to say, for this devotional. The book is definitely meant for teens. Even in the introduction, there is mention that the book is not meant for the parents, but for the teenager. The content has been personalized and made relevant for the teen in mind. Not the youth leader. Not the coach. Not the teacher. The teen. That said, this book is for teens.
The daily devotion is appropriate. The relevant verse is provided (more than Phil. 4:8), and an explanation of that day’s topic is covered. To conclude, there is an action plan to help guide the teenage reader closer to succeeding in living out Philippians 4:8. It also involves getting others committed to hold you accountable, giving a thought for the day, and a crafted prayer centered around the day’s theme.
In summary, the devotion is definitely at the frame of mind for a teenager. I could translate it to apply to myself, but the challenges a teenager faces are clearly addressed in this devotion. Overall, for the audience it is made for, five stars, all around.
