My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Telling the tale of Moses and Aaron leading the people out of Egypt, starting at the Burning Bush and ending with the Egyptians dying in the Red Sea, this short reader briefly covers the main points of this historical adventure that is a critical element of Jewish and Christian faith.
Published by Zondervan, this level two reader arrived in the mail for review and didn’t make it to my desk until days later, after my six-year-old son finished reading through it several times. He absolutely loved the book, enjoying it as a short read several times in the same day. Based off this, I would rate this entry-level book at around age five for youth if they wish to find it a bit better of a challenge for their child.
The tale is paced at a good level and ties in greatly with reading the related Scripture as a family activity. It helps bring the complexities of the historical event to a simpler plane of understanding for young readers, and helps them be encouraged to read more, and motivate them to read the Bible for themselves.
A good five-star book choice, this reader accomplishes its goal: teaching young children about the freedom of the Israelite people in an entertaining, honest, and educational manner.
